California GEELA Award
The Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA) Program is California’s highest environmental honor. The program recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made notable, voluntary contributions in conserving California’s precious resources, protecting and enhancing our environment, building public-private partnerships and strengthening the State’s economy.
The 2014 Award for Zero Emission Vehicle promotion was awarded to The Ford Store Morgan Hill, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The dealership specializes in selling Ford’s environmentally friendly plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the Energi, and sold more of them than any other dealer in the world in 2012. In addition, the dealership is undergoing a building expansion to incorporate greener practices into the construction, including the installation of solar panels and wind turbines to supply energy for charging electric vehicles. With public outreach and after-sales support for its customers, the Ford Store Morgan Hill is helping to promote zero emission vehicles throughout the State of California.
Connecticut REVolutionary Dealers
In 2014, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association (CARA) announced the first ever “Connecticut Revolutionary Dealer Award,” to recognize state automobile dealers who sell or lease the highest number of electric vehicles (EVs) from February 1 – July 31, 2014. One award was presented to the dealer that sold or leased the highest number of new EVs – including plug-in hybrids – and the other was presented to the dealer who sold or leased the most EVs as a percentage of total sales during the period.
Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles (MOR-EV) Program Statistics
The Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles (MOR-EV) program, administered by the Center for Sustainable Energy, offers rebates to qualifying electric vehicles in the state of Massachusetts. The website includes a page summarizing program statistics, including how many rebates have been issued to each vehicle model, as well as which retailers have sold the most vehicles that received rebates under the program.
The current leading dealerships for electric vehicle rebates in the state are Tesla Motors in Natick, Smart Center Boston in Somerville, Quirk Chevrolet in Braintree, Flagship Motorcars in Lynnfield, and Marlboro Nissan in Marlborough. Vermont Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence
The Vermont Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence recognize the actions taken by Vermonters to conserve and protect natural resources, prevent pollution, and promote environmental sustainability. To date, more than 200 award-winning efforts of Vermont individuals, organizations, institutions, public agencies, and businesses have been recognized. These projects contribute significantly to protecting the environment, conserving energy and reducing the production of greenhouse gases. Together they have created a green and sustainable business culture, and advanced environmental education on all fronts.
Vermont Lamoille Valley Ford in Hardwick and Twin State Ford in St. Johnsbury were recipients of 2014 Vermont Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence. These Ford dealerships designed an innovative promotional campaign and made significant financial investments to promote the sale and lease of Ford’s new plug-in hybrid vehicles. As a result, sales of plug-in hybrids by these dealerships ranked #1 for all Ford dealerships in Vermont and ranked #2 and #3 for all Ford dealerships in the U.S. in September 2013.
